Use ProveBooks in Claude and ChatGPT

What you can do

• Read your reports: profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, aging, and sales and expenses by name.
• Find transactions, invoices, bills, customers and vendors.
• Create invoices, send them, and record their payments.
• Match or exclude the bank lines that wait in Review.
• Record journal entries and correct transactions.

Claude and ChatGPT never move money. When they record a payment, they write it in your books. They do not pay anyone.

Before you start

You need a ProveBooks account with a company. Sign up or log in.

Connect Claude

1. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors.
2. Click Add custom connector.
3. Enter the name ProveBooks and the URL https://provebooks.com/mcp. If Claude asks how to sign in, choose Sign in now and Use Claude’s published identity. Click Add.
4. Click Connect, then log in to ProveBooks and allow access.
5. In a chat, click + > Connectors and turn on ProveBooks.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds the connector in Organization settings > Connectors. Then each member clicks Connect. The Free plan lets you add one custom connector.

In Claude Code, run:

claude mcp add --transport http provebooks https://provebooks.com/mcp

Connect ChatGPT

1. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins.
2. Select +, then Add custom MCP server.
3. Enter the name ProveBooks, a short description, and the URL https://provebooks.com/mcp.
4. Choose OAuth to sign in. Read the warning, then select I understand and want to continue.
5. Select Create as a plugin. Install it, then log in to ProveBooks and allow access.
6. In a new chat, type @ and select ProveBooks.

Your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings must allow custom MCP servers.

Things to ask

• “What was my net profit last quarter? Show my three largest expenses.”
• “Which customers owe me money, and how late are they?”
• “Show my balance sheet at the end of last month.”
• “Create an invoice for Acme Co: 10 hours of consulting at $150, due in 30 days.”
• “Which bank lines are waiting in Review?”

You stay in control

• Claude and ChatGPT act as you. They can open only the companies you can open.
• Claude asks you before it uses a tool that changes your books, unless you choose Always allow for that tool.
• A closed period stays closed. Nothing can post on or before your close date.
• To stop access, remove ProveBooks from your connectors in Claude or from your plugins in ChatGPT.

Privacy and help

ProveBooks gets only what Claude or ChatGPT sends to its tools. It does not see your chats. Read our Privacy Policy. For help, email support@provebooks.com.
